“Look at the mothers of the pure progeny, who are the role models of leadership and exemplars to be followed in every goodness and religion.” He then names the mothers of several Imams, including the mother of Imam Muhammad ibn Hasan, al-Hujjah, al-Qa'im and al-Mahdi: “Her name was Narjis.”
انظر أمهات العترة الطاهرة، الذين هم قدوة السادة وأسوة القادة في كل خير ودين، من كن؟ ... وأم الإمام محمد بن حسن الملقب بالحجة والقائم والمهدي أم ولد؛ اسمها نرجس.
Narjis — The Respected Mother of Imam Mahdi

Some gave him the titles “al-Hujjah,” “al-Muntazar,” “al-Qa'im,” “al-Mahdi,” and “Sahib al-Zaman,” and wrote his kunya as “Abu al-Qasim.” They wrote that his blessed birth occurred on Friday, the 15th of Sha'ban, 255 AH. Some wrote the name of his respected mother as “Narjis.”
بعضی اسم مادر محترمه‌اش را «خطم» و بعضی «نرجس» نوشته‌اند، و در وقت غیبت نه ساله بود۔

Al-Arif al-Bastami said regarding al-Mahdi: “It is said that he will be born in Persia. As for his mother, her name is Narjis, from the descendants of the disciples (Hawariyyun).”
وقيل يولد في فارس وهو خماسي القد عقيقي الخد وقد آتاه الله في حال الطفولية الحكمة وفصل الخطاب، وأما أمه فاسمها نرجس من أولاد الحواريين.
