Ibne ḥadīd directly Qoutes

Ibn Abi al-Hadid in Sharh Nahj al-Balagha, V6 pp215–216

Ibn Abi al-Hadid states that historians and writers of reports mentioned Aisha as being among the strongest opponents of Uthman. He reports that she was the first to call Uthman “Nathal” and that she used to say:

“Kill Nathal; may Allah kill Nathal.”

He then reports that after Uthman was killed, Aisha said he had been killed unjustly. Qays ibn Abi Hazim reminded her that previously she had been among the strongest people against Uthman and among the harshest in speaking about him. Aisha acknowledged her earlier position but said that she had reconsidered his case.
