Al-Harith ibn al-Nu'man al-Fihri challenged Prophet Muhammad after hearing his declaration: “Whoever I am his Mawla, Ali is his Mawla.” He questioned whether this declaration came from Allah or the Prophet himself. The Prophet swore that it came from Allah. Al-Harith then asked Allah to rain stones upon them if the declaration was true. According to the narration, a stone struck his head, exited through his anus, and killed him.
فقال: يا محمد، فهذا شيء منك أو من الله؟ فقال رسول الله ﷺ: «والله الذي لا إله إلا هو إنه من الله وليس مني». فقال: اللهم إن كان هذا هو الحق من عندك فأرسل علينا حجارة من السماء أو ائتنا بعذاب أليم. قال: فوالله ما بلغ ناقته حتى رماه الله تعالى بحجر من السماء، فوقع على هامته فخرج من دبره ومات.

وقلت: من كنت مولاه فعلي مولاه، فهذا منك أم من الله؟ فقال النبي ﷺ: «والذي لا إله إلا هو إن هذا من الله»، فولى الحارث بن النعمان وهو يريد راحلته ويقول: اللهم إن كان ما يقوله محمد حقا فأمطر علينا حجارة من السماء أو ائتنا بعذاب أليم، فما وصل إلى راحلته حتى رماه الله تعالى بحجر، فسقط على هامته وخرج من دبره.

فولى الحارث بن النعمان يريد راحلته وهو يقول: اللهم إن كان ما يقول محمد حقا فأمطر علينا حجارة من السماء أو ائتنا بعذاب أليم! فما وصل إليها حتى رماه الله عز وجل بحجر فسقط على هامته وخرج الحجر من دبره فقتله.
