Ibn Saʿd in al-Tabaqat al-Kubra, V5 p38

Ibn Saʿd records that after Uthman was killed, Talha, al-Zubayr and Aisha set out for Basra seeking vengeance for his blood, and Marwan ibn al-Hakam accompanied them. During the Battle of the Camel, when Marwan saw the people beginning to break away, he looked at Talha and said: “By Allah, Uthman's blood rests with this man. He was among the harshest of people against him, and I need no further evidence after what I have seen with my own eyes.” Marwan then aimed an arrow at Talha, shot him, and killed him.

Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani in al-Isabah fi Tamyiz al-Sahabah, V3 p432

Ibn Hajar records that Abu al-Qasim al-Baghawi narrated with an authentic chain from al-Jarud ibn Abi Sabrah that during the Battle of Jamal, Marwan looked at Talha and said: “I will not seek my revenge after today.” Marwan then shot Talha with an arrow and killed him.

Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani in al-Isabah fi Tamyiz al-Sahabah, V3 p432

Ibn Hajar records that Yaqub ibn Sufyan narrated with an authentic chain from Qays ibn Abi Hazim that Marwan ibn al-Hakam saw Talha among the cavalry and said: “This man assisted against Uthman.” Marwan then shot Talha with an arrow in the knee, and the blood continued to flow until he died.

Al-Hakim in al-Mustadrak ʿala al-Sahihayn, V3 p417, Hadith 5589

ʿIkrāsh reports that they were fighting against Ali alongside Talha, with Marwan among them. When they were defeated, Marwan said concerning Talha: “After today, I will not leave my revenge unfulfilled.” He then shot Talha with an arrow and killed him.

Al-Dhahabi in Siyar Aʿlam al-Nubalaʾ, V1 p36

Al-Dhahabi records a report from Khalifah ibn Khayyat, through Juwayriyah ibn Asma, from Yahya ibn Sa'id, from his uncle, that Marwan shot Talha with an arrow and killed him. Marwan then turned to Aban ibn Uthman and said: “We have spared you from one of your father’s killers.”
